How to make a payment logo banner

  1. Tick the payment methods you accept in the list at the bottom of the tool. You can search by name or filter by type, and the small banner above the list shows each change.
  2. Choose a style (Card, Logo, Mono Dark, Mono Light or Solo Colour) and one of the sizes from 16 to 512px.
  3. Pick a single row or a grid, then set the gap, padding and background. For a set width, click Fixed and type a width between 64 and 4096px. The preview changes as you go.
  4. Download an SVG, a PNG, a JPG (this needs a solid background) or a ZIP with each logo as its own SVG and PNG file.

Worked example

Keep the four methods the tool starts with (Visa, Mastercard, American Express and PayPal), the Card style, 48px size and a single row. At 48px the tool sets a 12px gap and 24px of padding. Each card is 1.5 times as wide as it is tall, so 72px wide. The banner is 4 × 72 + 3 × 12 + 2 × 24 = 372px wide and 48 + 2 × 24 = 96px tall, and the line under the preview reads 372 × 96px.

Frequently asked questions

Are payment icons free to use on my website?▾
Yes, for the payment methods you accept. Card brands such as Visa and Mastercard let businesses that take their cards show their logos to tell customers so, as long as they follow the brand's rules, for example by not changing the logo. Only show logos for methods your checkout really offers.
Can I use Visa and Mastercard logos in my footer?▾
Yes. Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and every major card network explicitly allow merchants to display their logos to indicate acceptance. You don't need to register, ask permission, or pay a fee.
What size should payment icons be in my website footer?▾
For a website footer, icons 24px to 48px tall work well. Use 24px in a tight footer, 32px in a normal one, and 48px if you want the logos to stand out. The ToolsForTasks Payment Icons Generator offers sizes from 16px to 512px.
Should I use SVG or PNG for payment icons?▾
Use SVG. SVG icons are vector-based, scale infinitely without blur, support transparent backgrounds, and have smaller file sizes than equivalent PNGs at typical web resolutions. Use PNG only if your CMS doesn't support SVG uploads.
Do I need permission to display Visa, PayPal, or Apple Pay logos?▾
No, not if you're a merchant who accepts that payment method. Displaying the logo to communicate acceptance is permitted use. You can't modify the logos (no recolouring of card-style versions, no adding effects), and you can't imply endorsement of unrelated products.
How do I add payment icons to WordPress, Shopify, or WooCommerce?▾
Download an SVG or PNG from the generator, upload it through your platform's media library, and insert it in your footer widget or theme template. WordPress, and so WooCommerce, does not accept SVG uploads by default, whatever your theme, so upload the PNG there or add SVG support with a plugin such as SVG Support. On Shopify, the PNG is the safest choice.
What payment methods should I show in my footer?▾
Show only the methods you actually accept. Including logos for unsupported methods is misleading and can be a payment-network compliance violation. Most small e-commerce sites display 4 to 8 methods: the major card networks (Visa, Mastercard, Amex), one or two wallets (PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay), and any regional rails relevant to the customer base.
Will showing payment logos in my footer increase conversions?▾
They can help. In its cart abandonment research, Baymard Institute asked US online shoppers why they had abandoned an order. Leaving aside people who were just browsing, 19% said they did not trust the site with their card details and 9% said there were not enough payment methods. Logos for the methods you take show visitors early on that they can pay the way they want. They only help if your checkout really offers those methods.
Can I use these icons in emails, invoices, or business cards?▾
Yes, the same rules apply: you can use any payment brand logo to indicate that you accept that method, in any medium. Use the high-resolution PNG (256px or 512px) for print, and the SVG for email signatures and digital documents.
Why do my payment icons look blurry?▾
Almost always because a low-resolution PNG has been scaled up. Fix it by using the SVG version (which never blurs) or downloading a PNG at twice the size you display it (for example, download at 96px to display at 48px to handle Retina/HiDPI screens).

Logos are trademarks of their owners. Show a logo only for a payment method you accept, and follow that brand's rules.
